Last night, I watched the remake of Steel Magnolias even though Victoria White, a producer of the 1989 classic Steel Magnolias, was apparently so mad about the Queen Latifah starring remake premiering on Lifetime that she filed suit earlier claiming that because she was never informed about the new production! She said the network didn’t honor the contract. What contract? I say give her screen credits and an Advil. So that is why the case was thrown out the window!
Lessons learned:
1. A tear is just a tear
I cried just as much as I did watching the original Steel Magnolias
2. The right cast is everything
If this was a basic Lifetime remake with a bunch of starter actors then it would have been a problem. It was full of amazing brown skin ladies.
3. Race had nothing to do with the story
The plot remained the same as the original. It was great to have a remake in High Definition and more current.
Did you know the movie remake took 18 days to film?
Shout out to my friend’s little boy who was the ring bearer in the wedding!
