Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce Knowles, Nicki Minaj and More Applaud Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas


A number of celebrities including Beyonce Knowles, Oprah Winfrey and Nicki Minaj congratulated Gabby Douglas after she won gold medal at the London Olympic Games. Beyonce took to her official website to send her message, while Oprah and Nicki reached out to the young athlete through Twitter.
Gabby won a gold medal in the individual all-around on August 2nd, marking her second gold after placing first in the team all-around the day before along with her teammates McKayla Maroney, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross and Jordyn Wieber. To God be the glory. She is the first African-American woman and the first female of color to become the individual all-around winner in Olympic history.Gabby Douglas also the first U.S. gymnast to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympic Games.

“I JUST rewatched Gabby douglass. Yo. Goosebumps. Every single turn was sharp. Clean. Perfect. Omg!!” Estelle additionally wrote. Ian Somerhalder also sent a celebratory message, “We’d like to congratulate you&the U.S. Women’s team on your gold medal!Go Team USA!”

Ciara joined the celebration as well, “Not only am I happy 4 U. I’m happy for your family 2! The sacrifices payed off! Keep inspiring Young Girls and Women like Me.” Octavia Spencer tweeted, “HUGE HUGE MOMENT!!! Own it! bringing home THE GOLD!”
