Exclusive Interview: Celebrity Hairstylist Danie of VH1 Tough Love New Orleans

How did you hear about the show?
I just happened to be in the right place at the right time I guess. I actually didn’t have to go to one of the actual casting they just had me fill out a casting app and it was on from there

How did you feel watching yourself on television? Were there moments where you cringed at your behavior?
When the show first came on I could not watch myself at all but as the episodes went on I realized I had no choice. I wanted to be able to interact with the supporters and fans of the show, so I guess I had no choice. I just watch the show and think to myself “I am something else.” It’s definitely a different experience.

What is a typical date in Atlanta? How would you describe the men you have met?
The men I have met in Atlanta, it’s like nobody wants to go on a “real” date anymore. They either want to go to the club and meet you afterwards, come over your house or vice versus or just don’t want to do nothing at all. I’m like what happened to the old days? Can I at least get a dinner and a movie? LOL!

Has the show impacted your business as a hair stylist?
I have had many new clients since the show actually boost my clientele by at least 20%…

Do you have any regrets from appearing on the show?
No regrets. People are going to talk if you doing something good or bad so why not give them something to talk about.

What did you expect to gain from the show?
A little publicity as far as being a hairstylist but at this point I’m open to all opportunities coming from the show. I got to get in where I fit in.
