Dear Chris Brown,
I had a discussion with a friend today about you and she said she would not be purchasing your Fortune album next Tuesday. She stated that she would not be purchasing the album because of the simple fact that you assaulted Rihanna and that she can not support someone who abuses women.
I thought to myself OK, you have every right not to buy something if you don’t want to but isn’t it about time that we let some things go and move on from the incident with Rihanna. There are plenty of other artists who have done horrible things and yet no one seems to bat an eye about supporting them, T.I. was arrested and convicted of stockpiling several illegal guns and firearms, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka Flame and numerous other artists brag about selling and having possession of various illegal substances including cocaine and marijuana, plus two of the biggest music legends had huge scandals surrounding them Michael Jackson with the alleged abuse of children and Whitney Houston with numerous drug allegations. So why is it that Chris Brown has such a hard time with promoting and selling his music. He is immensely talented like all of the aforementioned artists and he is also very attractive, in the music industry this should equal record sales, a handsome young man with an 8 pack, sweet voice, upcoming actor, and he is one of the best dancers alive any record executive worth their weight would sign him in a second. Sadly though at this point, Chris Brown is seen more as a music pariah than a talented young man trying to make up for his mistake and better himself.
I am not saying that he doesn’t make it hard with the recent scuffles that he has gotten in to doesn’t make it hard to forgive him or look the other way but then I thought how does this behavior differ from any other male his age. There are tons of 20 something year old black males running around getting into fights over women in bars or saying rude things on Twitter, what is the difference is it because Chris does it on a larger platform? Or is it because its socially acceptable to judge the every move of a celebrity and talk trash about them and scrutinize everything that they do. We as a society do this so much that we forget that they are people and they have families, friends, and people who love them that this hurts. I started to think about his mother, aunts, uncles, brothers, and other family members who read this and it must hurt to constantly read something negative about their loved one. I can no longer allow that in my presence nor will it be allowed on this site, CourtneyLuv.com is a site committed to bringing you positive news and I choose to look at the positive in Chris Brown. I will be purchasing the album because he is talented and like talented artists the same reason I purchased T.I., Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston’s albums before because I like the product. Chris Brown’s new album Fortune comes out on July 3rd and I would hope that all of my LuvBugs go and pick up a copy.
To Chris Brown I ask that you please continue to make amazing music and please your fans all over the globe…
